Recover Your Wallet

You are searching high and low in your house for your wallet. It was not there.

Then you remembered you had left it in the playground near your house. You quickly rushed there.

A sweet little girl slowly walked to you with your wallet, smiling sheepishly.

You checked your wallet. Your ID, credit cards and other documents were still there. You sighed with relieve. Then you checked your cash. You have lost a few dollars.

Then you saw the little girl with an ice cream. You suspected that she might have taken your money.

What would you do?

Situation like this happened. Many, upon finding their money, will thank the sweet little girl. But there are those who will get a little upset when they lose a few dollars and will start to blame the little girl and make her cry.

For me, I will thank the girl heartily. Then I will give her another ice cream if she so desired.

Then I would ask her how she had found my wallet. I would not push her. But I would slowly guide her to remember.

I would not speculate whether she had stolen my money. It might be that the money was stolen before that. And she might have bought her ice cream with her money.

If she told me that she had taken some of my money because she couldn't resist the temptation of buying an ice cream, I would not blame her. Instead I would tell her that the next time she finds my wallet, she should find me first, so that we can buy the ice cream together. Making her cry just because she had taken a few dollars from me would not be nice to do.

The fact that I can have my wallet back is good news to me. Imagine if I have lost my ID or my credit cards, the consequences would be serious. Instead I had only lost a few dollars. That's a blessing in disguise.

What if I didn't recover my wallet? What if I had lost all my documents and credit cards?

We really need to be grateful to the people who have help us. And in this case, we need to really thank and reward the little girl.

So the next time you lose your wallet, and someone comes forward and give you back your wallet, be grateful. You may not have your wallet back at all.

Thanks, my sweet little girl.

An Unreasonable Colleague

I have this colleague who grumbles and complains a lot about people around her. Nothing seems to satisfy her appetite for more. Often, I would see her red-faced in the office, ready to pounce on unsuspecting and vulnerable people.

Every time when I heard her raised voice in the office, I had this uncomfortable feeling of wanting to leave the place and went somewhere else. I just couldn't concentrate on my work when I had to deal with distractions and interruptions all the time.

We are members of the administrators. We are put together in a large room with no partitions for privacy. It is already an uncomfortable room, more of a store than an office, and then come someone screaming and shouting at another. How would that make you feel!

I had seen her, many times, screaming and shouting at her subordinates in her office.

She was always very defensive and could readily come up with many reasons and excuses to defend herself and minimize the responsibility she should carry.

She was very direct and to the point, often cornering people, hampering their spirits and making them feel guilty. I had seen many of her subordinates cowering in fear and anger as they listened to her.

There were times when her subordinates began to argue and fight about the matter. She would get very mad and started to blame them and defend herself. And there were times when she was losing, she would tried to garner our supports, claiming that we were co-administrators.

She had made a name for herself here; many are scared of her. I remembered on a few occasions when she quarreled with the bosses and talked very loudly in front and behind their back. Some of the bosses are really scared of her and they have granted her every wish.

She had very few friends and is seldom found hanging around with others. But she continues to manipulate others to do what she wants.

There were times when I looked at her from afar, pitied her for putting a tough front. It wouldn't do, I said to myself, I had seen many administrators failed when they insisted their way.

She is leading a dangerous life; more and more enemies she made every year. I had heard that her family was scared of her too, and her husband was turning a deaf ear to her.

Another year, another year, and she will have to retire; voices from behind were getting nearer and stronger; people were smiling and laughing behind her.

But she couldn't be bothered; she continues to be mean and unreasonable.

Oh! my unreasonable colleague. Sigh.

Don't Waste Time Hating Others

It is definitely easier to join and group with people with speak the same language, who share similar views and opinions, who are able to entertain conflicting ideas and suggestions, who know the importance of give and take, and who enjoy and cherish friendship and fellowship.

But there are times when we come across people who are not that friendly and welcoming; they don't return our greetings when we nod our head, or when we give them a smile and a friendly look, or when we speak to them with many kind words.

What would you do with people like those? Do you hate those who hate you? Do you get annoyed because of those bad attitudes and behaviors? Do you get angry because they are angry at you?

Everyone of us is different; we face and deal with issues and problems in life differently. Some of us take things easy and just let go of unhappy incidents; others may take things very seriously and want to come to the bottom of things.

But I don't think we need to get mad, angry or frustrated because they don't see things eye to eye with us. Since they want it that way, we let them go, enjoy themselves and we wish them well.

Everyone has their own circles of friends. While it is true that we are to love our neighbors as ourselves, there are times when we need to bend to other people's will. We don't want to intrude into their privacy and their lives; just leave them alone.

Good friends are hard to find. But when people insist on choosing their own friends, what can we do?

I personally enjoy friendship and fellowship. I make friends with everyone who would like to befriend me. Life is just too short to hate people who hate us, to comment and criticize others to bring them to shame, and to hurt and harm others.

Don't waste time hating others.

Not worth it!

Be friendly and earn more friends. LOL
