Work Pleasure

I enjoy my work.
I find pleasure in everything I do. I spend times perfecting my skills and abilities. I enjoy every bit of my work. I prioritize my work and complete my tasks properly on time. I seek to enjoy every task given and do it properly and satisfactory. I will find ways and means to improve on everything I do. I have committed more than 20 years into my work, and I desire to enjoy it for another 10 years more.
I clean and arrange my workspace until I am comfortable and can enjoy deep breath whenever I need. I prefer a quiet corner with less disturbances. I enjoy soft music and soft conversations in the background. I enjoy seeing flowers and plants whenever I get tired of my tasks.
I withdraw from people who are full of complaints about their workload and who just cannot stop grumbling. They affect my tasks and disrupt my peace and joy in my workspace.
I treasure colleagues who have the organization's goals in them every time they reach their workplace. These are people who seek to improve the working environments and who endeavor to implement the organization's goals efficiently and effectively. They always make my tasks easier and my working life happier.
I enjoy friends who are full of good tips and good jokes. Sitting close to them always helps in acquiring new working ideas and reducing stresses and strains of my working life. I love friends who have a lot of patience and can maintain their composure. They always have clear thoughts and they reason well. These are people who enjoy their workplace.
I stay away from negative people who complain virtually everything they see. They are not happy about the workplace, the colleagues, the customers and the bosses. Joining them only make me negative in my working life.
Yes, I make friends with my bosses. I seek to listen and understand what they want me to do. I carry out my tasks properly and on time. I seek their advices on things I have difficulties to comprehend and implement. I know my limits and I wouldn't volunteer on tasks that are beyond me. And I will state my stance with my bosses at the correct times.
I have the organization in my mind when I reach my workplace. All other things are secondary. I will help in planning, implementing and monitoring all the organization's goals. I understand that God put me in this organization for a purpose.
I will avoid negative people in my workplace, including my bosses. They are a hindrance to my work pleasure.
I think I will ask for transfer when I can't enjoy my work here anymore.

Arguments

Calm and restrained arguments are both necessary and helpful in any organization. They help to clarify our roles, reduce misunderstandings and improve communications. They help to encourage group works and team efforts. They help the organization to implement and monitor its plans and policies more efficiently and effectively.
It is advisable not to bring in private and personal matters while you are having any formal discussion. Speak professionally according to your expertise. Be courteous and considerate to others as you come forward and stress your points.
Enjoy your inner peace while dealing with your daily activities.

The Right Attitude
A man made a living selling balloons at a fair.Lessons:
He had all colors of balloons, including red, yellow, blue, and green.
Whenever business was slow, he would release a helium-filled balloon into the air and when the children saw it go up, they all wanted to buy one. They would come up to him, buy a balloon and his sales would go up again.
He continued this process all day.
One day, he felt someone tugging at his jacket. He turned around and saw a little boy who asked, "If you release a black balloon, would that also fly?"
Moved by the boy's concern, the man replied with empathy, "Son, it is not the color of the balloon; it is what is inside that makes it go up."

- Our attitude determines our future.
- Good attitude gives good impressions and improve our relationships.
- Good attitude can open doors to million of opportunity.
- In life, it doesn't matter how smart we are or how many facts and figures we know. What other people care about is your right attitude.
May the coming New Year gives you love, peace and prosperity.

The Best Answer

You pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus:
- An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
- An old friend who once saved your life.
- The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.
------------------------------------------------
You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first.
Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back. However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again.
The preferred answer is : You give the car keys to your old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital. You stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of your dreams.

Is It Possible To Enjoy Housework?
Love your home and therefore try to make it a point to take care of the good things that you have in your home? Enjoy and take pride in your work? Always ponder how to do your housework more efficiently?
- Have a standard routine for your housework, list down everything that you want to do and gather all the cleaning supplies before you begin? Drinking an enormous amount of coffee or smoking (or both) to put you in the mood to clean? Turn your brain off and just stay focus on your tasks until everything is done?
- Listen to some music or narratives while doing your housework? Enjoy a feeling of increased confidence, and a sense of overall achievement by listening to Hypnosis CD?
- Share the workload with the kids by delegating?
- Or just forget it. Get a good paying job and pay someone to do it?
What do you think? I don't think I know. You decide.

Enjoy All That You Do

An elephant was standing and picking leaves from a tree. A small fly came, flying and buzzing near his ear. The elephant waved it away with his long ears. Then the fly came again, and the elephant waved it away once more.
This was repeated several times. Then the elephant asked the fly, "Why are you so restless and noisy? Why can't you stay for a while in one place?"
The fly answered, "I am attracted to whatever I see, hear or smell. My five senses pull me constantly in all directions and I cannot resist them. What is your secret? How can you stay so calm and still?"
The elephant stopped eating and said, "My five senses do not rule my attention. Whatever I do, I get immersed in it. Now that I am eating, I am completely immersed in eating. In this way I can enjoy my food and chew it better. I rule and control my attention, and not the other way around."
Lessons:
- If our five senses are in control of our mind and attention, then our mind is in constant unrest. If we are in charge of our five senses and attention, then our mind becomes calm.
- Control your attention, and you control your mind.

Enjoy Problem Solving
The caretaker had left notices on the toilet walls asking for the practice to cease, but to no avail. Every evening the caretaker would wipe away the kisses, and the next day lots more kisses would be planted on the mirror. It had become a bit of a game.

The head teacher enjoyed problem solving, and so the next day she asked a few girl representatives from each class to meet with her in the lavatory.
"Thank you for coming," said the head teacher, "You will see there are several lipstick kisses in the mirrors in this washroom."
Some of the girls grinned at each other.
"As you will understand, modern lipstick is cleverly designed to stay on the lips, and so the lipstick is not easy at all to clean from the mirrors. We have therefore had to develop a special cleaning regime, and my hope is that when you see the effort involved you will help spread the word that we'd all be better off if those responsible for the kisses use tissue paper instead of the mirrors in future."
At this point the caretaker stepped forward with a sponge squeegee, which he took into one of the toilet cubicles, dipped into the toilet bowl, and then used to clean one of the lipstick-covered mirrors.
The caretaker smiled. The girls departed. And there were no more lipstick kisses on the mirrors.
What do you think of this "creative approach" to stop some unwanted behavior from students?

Business Connections
Father : "I want you to marry a girl of my choice."Lessons:
Son : "I will choose my own bride!"
Father: "But the girl is Bill Gates's daughter."
Son : "Well, in that case...ok"
Next, Father approaches Bill Gates.
Father: "I have a husband for your daughter."
Bill Gates: "But my daughter is too young to marry!"
Father: "But this young man is a vice-president of the World Bank."
Bill Gates: "Ah, in that case...ok"
Finally, Father goes to see the president of the World Bank.
Father: "I have a young man to be recommended as a vice-president."
President: "But I already have more vice-presidents than I need!"
Father: "But this young man is Bill Gates's son-in-law."
President: "Ah, in that case...ok"
This is how business is done!
- In good time, if you want to be successful in business, make and build more connections.
- But what happens during economic downturn? Many companies have declared bankruptcy. Many people have been retrenched.
- "If the blind leads the blind, both shall fall into the ditch." -- Matthew 15:14 Bible. That is why any human relationship without God is meaningless.
- Enjoy your work and your life in the shadow of God. Pray often. God will prosper your way with Him despite the circumstances.

Teamwork Wins The Race
![]() |
Slow and steady wins the race. |
- Once upon a time a tortoise and a hare had an argument about who was faster. They decided to settle the argument with a race. The tortoise and hare both agreed on a route and started off the race. The hare shot ahead and ran briskly for some time. Then seeing that he was far ahead of the tortoise, he thought he'd sit under a tree for some time and relax before continuing the race. He sat under the tree and soon fell asleep. The tortoise plodding on overtook him and soon finished the race, emerging as the undisputed champion. The hare woke up and realised that he had lost the race.
Lesson: Slow and steady wins the race. - The hare was disappointed at losing the race and he did some soul-searching. He realised that he had lost the race because he had been overconfident, careless and lax. If he had not taken things for granted, there's no way the tortoise could have beaten him. So he challenged the tortoise to another race. The tortoise agreed.
This time, the hare went all out and ran without stopping from start to finish. He won by several miles.
Lesson: Fast and consistent will always beat the slow and steady. - The tortoise did some thinking this time, and realised that there is no way he can beat the hare in a race the way it was currently formatted. He thought for a while, and then challenged the hare to another race, but on a slightly different route. The hare agreed. The tortoise and hare started off. In keeping with his self-made commitment to be consistently fast, the hare took off and ran at top speed until he came to a broad river. The finishing line was a couple of kilometres on the other side of the river.
The hare sat there wondering what to do. In the meantime the tortoise trundled along, got into the river, swam to the opposite bank, continued walking and finished the race.
Lesson: First identify your core competency and then change the playing field to suit your core competency.
In an organisation, if you are a good speaker, make sure you create opportunities to give presentations that enable the senior management to notice you.
If your strength is analysis, make sure you do some sort of research, make a report and send it upstairs. Working to your strengths will not only get you noticed, but will also create opportunities for growth and advancement. - The tortoise and hare, by this time, had become good friends and they did some thinking together. Both realised that the last race could have been run much better. So the tortoise and hare decided to do the last race again, but to run as a team this time.
They started off, and this time the hare carried the tortoise till the riverbank. There, the tortoise took over and swam across with the hare on his back. On the opposite bank, the hare again carried the tortoise and they reached the finishing line together. Both the tortoise and hare felt a greater sense of satisfaction than they had felt earlier.
Lesson: It's good to be individually brilliant and to have strong core competencies; but unless you're able to work in a team and harness each other's core competencies, you'll always perform below par because there will always be situations at which you'll do poorly and someone else does well.
Teamwork is letting the person with the relevant core competency for a situation take leadership.
The stories continue ...

Have A Laugh
They rub the lamp and a genie appears.
The genie says, "Normally, one is granted three wishes but as you are three, I will allow one wish each."
So the eager senior manager shouted, "I want the first wish. I want to be in the Bahamas, on a fast boat and have no worries". "Pfufffff and he was gone.
Now the junior manager could not keep quiet and shouted, "I want to be in Florida with beautiful girls, plenty of food and cocktails". Pfufffff, and he was also gone.
The boss calmly said," I want these two idiots back in the office after lunch at 12.35pm"

Lessons On Teamwork From Geese
Lesson: People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.
Fact 2: When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front of it.
Lesson: If we have as much sense as a goose, we stay in formation with those headed where we want to go. We are willing to accept their help and give our help to others.
Fact 3: When the lead goose tires, it rotates back into formation and another goose flies to the point position.
Lesson: It pays to take turns doing the hard tasks and sharing leadership. As with geese, people are interdependent on each other's skills, capabilities and unique arrangements of gifts, talents or resources.
Fact 4: The geese flying in formation honk to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.
Lesson: We need to make sure our honking is encouraging. In groups where there is encouragement, the production is much greater. The power of encouragement (to stand by one's heart or core values and encourage the heart and core of others) is the quality of honking we seek.
Fact 5: When a goose gets sick, wounded or shot down, two geese drop out of formation and follow it to help and protect it. They stay with it until it dies or is able to fly again. Then, they launch out with another formation or catch up with the flock.
Lesson: If we have as much sense as geese, we will stand by each other in difficult times as well as when we are strong.
- Geese teach us the benefits of teamwork.
- Geese teach us the need to assist one another.
- Geese teach us the duty to take turn to lead.
- Geese teach us the importance of encouraging one another in the right direction.
- Geese teach us the necessity to stand by one another in difficult times.

The Mysterious Forms
Intrigued, the consultant visited the archives to see if he could find a clearer form, to discover what was originally being reported and whether it actually held any significance. When he found the old reports, he saw that the zero return had continued uninterrupted for as far back as the records extended - at least the past thirty years - but none of the forms was any clearer than those presently in use. A little frustrated, he packed away the old papers and turned to leave the room, but something caught his eye. In another box he noticed a folder, promisingly titled 'master forms'. Sure enough inside it he found the original daily report proforma master-copy, in pristine condition. In the top right corner was the mysterious box, with the heading clearly shown ...... 'Number of Air Raids Today'.

The Dam
The Michigan DOEQ letter...
Subject: DEQ File No.97-59-0023;
T11N; R10W, Sec. 20;
Montcalm County
Dear Mr. DeVries,
It has come to the attention of the Department of Environmental Quality that there has been recent unauthorized activity on the above referenced parcel of property. You have been certified as the legal landowner and/or contractor who did the following unauthorized activity:
Construction and maintenance of two wood debris dams across the outlet stream of Spring Pond.
A permit must be issued prior to the start of this type of activity. A review of the Department's files shows that no permits have been issued. Therefore, the Department has determined that this activity is in violation of Part 301, Inland Lakes and Streams, of the Natural Resource and Environmental Protection Act, Act 451 of the Public Acts of 1994, being sections 324.30101 to 324.30113 of the Michigan Compiled Laws, annotated.
The Department has been informed that one or both of the dams partially failed during a recent rain event, causing debris and flooding at downstream locations. We find that dams of this nature are inherently hazardous and cannot be permitted. The Department therefore orders you to cease and desist all activities at this location, and to restore the stream to a free-flow condition by removing all wood and brush forming the dams from the stream channel. All restoration work shall be completed no later than January 31, 2003. Please notify this office when the restoration has been completed so that our staff may schedule a follow-up site inspection.
Failure to comply with this request or any further unauthorized activity on the site may result in this case being referred for elevated enforcement action. We anticipate and would appreciate your full cooperation in this matter. Please feel free to contact me at this office if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
District Representative
Land and Water Management Division
Mr Devries' letter response...
Dear Sirs,
Re: DEQ File No. 97-59-0023; T11N; R10W, Sec. 20; Montcalm County.
Your certified letter dated 12/17/02 has been handed to me to respond to. I am the legal landowner but not the Contractor at 2088 Dagget, Pierson, Michigan. A couple of beavers are in the process (State unauthorized) of constructing and maintaining two wood "debris" dams across the outlet stream of my Spring Pond. While I did not pay for, authorize, nor supervise their dam project, I think they would be highly offended that you call their skillful use of nature's building materials "debris."
I would like to challenge your department to attempt to emulate their dam project any time and/or any place you choose. I believe I can safely state there is no way you could ever match their dam skills, their dam resourcefulness, their dam ingenuity, their dam persistence, their dam determination and/or their dam work ethic. As to your request, I do not think the beavers are aware that they must first fill out a dam permit prior to the start of this type of dam activity.
My first dam question to you is: (1) are you trying to discriminate against my Spring Pond Beavers or (2) do you require all beavers throughout this State to conform to said dam request? If you are not discriminating against these particular beavers, through the Freedom of Information Act, I request completed copies of all those other applicable beaver dam permits that have been issued. Perhaps we will see if there really is a dam violation of Part 301, Inland Lakes and Streams, of the Natural Resource and Environmental Protection Act, Act 451 of the Public Acts of 1994, being sections 324.30101 to 324.30113 of the Michigan Compiled Laws, annotated.
I have several concerns. My first concern is: aren't the beavers entitled to legal representation? The Spring Pond Beavers are financially destitute and are unable to pay for said representation, so the State will have to provide them with a dam lawyer. The Department's dam concern that either one or both of the dams failed during a recent rain event causing flooding is proof that this is a natural occurrence, which the Department is required to protect. In other words, we should leave the Spring Pond Beavers alone rather than harassing them and calling them dam names. If you want the stream "restored" to a dam free-flow condition please contact the beavers, but if you are going to arrest them, they obviously did not pay any attention to your dam letter, they being unable to read English.
In my humble opinion, the Spring Pond Beavers have a right to build their unauthorized dams as long as the sky is blue, the grass is green and water flows downstream. They have more dam rights than I do to live and enjoy Spring Pond. If the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection lives up to its name, it should protect the natural resources (Beavers) and the environment (Beavers' Dams). So, as far as the beavers and I are concerned, this dam case can be referred for more elevated enforcement action right now. Why wait until 1/31/2003? The Spring Pond Beavers may be under the dam ice then and there will be no way for you or your dam staff to contact/harass them then.
In conclusion, I would like to bring to your attention to a real environmental quality (health) problem in the area. It is the bears! Bears are actually defecating in our woods. I definitely believe you should be persecuting the defecating bears and leave the beavers alone. If you are going to investigate the beaver dam, watch your step! (The bears are not careful where they dump!) Being unable to comply with your dam request, and being unable to contact you on your dam answering machine, I am sending this response to your dam office.
Thank you
Ryan Devries and the Dam Beavers

Get in the Wheelbarrow
The Great Zumbrati was reluctant, given the terrible conditions, but the supporter pressed him, "You can do it - I know you can," he urged.
"You really believe I can do it?" asked Zumbrati.
"Yes - definitely - you can do it." the supporter gushed.
"Okay," said Zumbrati, "Get in the wheelbarrow..."

Chalres Plumb's Parachutes
One day, a man approached Plumb and his wife in a restaurant, and said, "Are you Plumb the navy pilot?"
"Yes, how did you know?" asked Plumb.
"I packed your parachute," the man replied.
Plumb was amazed and grateful: "If the chute you packed hadn't worked, I wouldn't be here today..."
Plumb refers to this in his lectures: his realisation that the anonymous sailors who packed the parachutes held the pilots' lives in their hands, and yet the pilots never gave these sailors a second thought; never even said hello, let alone said thanks.
Now Plumb asks his audiences, "Who packs your parachutes?..... Who helps you through your life?.... Physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually?....... Think about who helps you; recognise them and say thanks."

The Brewery's Policy
After the new line had been switched on successfully, and the formalities completed, the guests relaxed in small groups to chat and enjoy the buffet. In a quiet corner stood three men discussing trucks and transport and distribution, since one was the present distribution manager, and the other two were past holders of the post, having retired many years ago. The three men represented three generations of company distribution management, spanning over sixty years.
The present distribution manager confessed that his job was becoming more stressful because company policy required long deliveries be made on Monday and Tuesday, short deliveries on Fridays, and all other deliveries mid-week.
"It's so difficult to schedule things efficiently - heaven knows what we'll do with these new cans and the tight demands of the supermarkets..."
The other two men nodded in agreement.
"It was the same in my day," sympathised the present manager's predecessor, "It always seemed strange to me that trucks returning early on Mondays and Tuesdays couldn't be used for little local runs, because the local deliveries had to be left until Friday.."
The third man nodded, and was thinking hard, struggling to recall the policy's roots many years ago when he'd have been a junior in the despatch department. After a pause, the third man smiled and then ventured a suggestion.
"I think I remember now," he said, "It was the horses..... During the Second World War fuel rationing was introduced. So we mothballed the trucks and went back to using the horses. On Mondays the horses were well-rested after the weekend - hence the long deliveries. By Friday the horses so tired they could only handle the short local drops..."
Soon after the opening of the new canning line the company changed its delivery policy.

The Carpenter
The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.
When the carpenter finished his work, the employer came to inspect the house. He handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house", he said, "my gift to you." The carpenter was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.
So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. Then with a shock, we realize we have to live in the house we have built. If we could do it over, we'd do it much differently. But we cannot go back.
You are the carpenter. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board or erect a wall. "Life is a do-it-yourself project" someone has said. Your attitudes and the choices you make today, build the "house" you live in tomorrow. Build it wisely!!

Every New Day Brings Progress
We tend to believe that we are better than others. We think we are handsome and strong. We are more attractive and influential. We are well informed and better equipped. We are a class above the rest, well honoured and respected anytime and anywhere. The sad fact of life is that we are seeing the world only through our own eyes.
For the most part of our life, we are lying and cheating to ourselves. In reality, others are living better and progressing faster than us. They are advancing at all times in every field that they put themselves into. They learn by leaps and bounds while we are enjoying our sweet moment of success and glory. O dreamers, wake up. The world has left you far behind. Wake up from your lethargy, put your plans into actions and double your efforts to achieve your goals.
Heaven knows how miserable we must have fared after these many years. We love to judge others but we don't even have time to examine ourselves. We are mean to others and we are mean to ourselves. We don't want to see progress and we try our best to hinder others from progress. Yet, we ourselves refuse to progress. What an irony. Every day we are refreshed and ready for a new adventure. Yet we live as if we don't have much to contribute for the welfare of the world that we live in. We are having a life of living death.
We avoid the fact that others are watching us. We tell ourselves that we don't care, yet we yearn for their attentions just like pampered children. We want them to stay behind, follow our foot steps, and attending our ways. And we teach them to look scornfully and sneering at others who refuse to heed our ways. How immature we must have become after all these years.
O man, how have we progressed after all these years? How many tomorrows can we afford to waste? Come on. Don't linger anymore. Let's go forward for a new adventure.

If You Want To Be Successful, Start Today
The journey of a thousand miles begin with one single step. The best time to take that first step is right now.
We must start today because it matters.
One today is worth two tomorrows. Most people over-exaggerate yesterday, over-estimate tomorrow and underestimate today. But the good old days were never as good as we remember them to be, and tomorrow often isn't as productive as we think it will be. Today is the day that matters, the day with the greatest potential for accomplishment. Start now, because tomorrow may not be yours to start.
We must start today because it removes the greatest barrier to our success - delaying.
Anyone who brags about what they're going to do tomorrow probably did the same thing yesterday. The greatest gap for a successful living is always between knowing and doing.
We must start today because today ia the open door for opportunity.
It's the job that never get started that takes the longest to finish. We cannot win if we do not begin. We must go through the door of opportunity when it opens to us, because we never know how long it's going to stay open or if it will ever open for us again.
Successful people have three key qualities in common: A Positive Attitude, Able to Adapt to Change And Loving What They Do. How about us?
There is no magic solution to success. But there is alway a first step, and that first step is to start now, not tomorrow. We need not wait a single minute before starting to improve ourselves and our world. Start improving ourself today, and the rest will be history.
